Golden guernsey goats

The Goats we keep are all Golden Guernsey Goats (GGG)

They are a rare breed and survived the occupation of Germany as a breed due to one lady, Miriam Melbourne, hiding a small herd on Guernsey, said to be in a cave.

Thankfully the breed is as well suited to small areas, even being permanently stalled kept, as it is to larger areas

Things have not gone to plan

If 2020 has not told us that life does not always go to plan then we may never learn

With only somewhere between 500 and 1,000 registered breeding Golden Guernsey Goats in the UK we are looking to help to expand this in the near future, with careful selection

Two Herds at Goat Force

There are two separate herds at Goat Force, both Golden Guernsey Goats

  • Our first herd originated from stock from the Countryfile herd

The second herd are from Newbury and hence are called the Newbury 4 and live in the Newbury pen; these are the goats that are currently petted by visitors.

Please always use the hand sanitiser before and after your visit

Unlike the article, we strongly recommend battening parsnips, etc, easier to prevent dropping and our coats are perfectly safe with it.

More information on what is good for Goats will be published soon.

Fibre is a goats staple diet and requirement; during winter fibre is what keeps them warm from inside out, it is how their rumen works - nature made them that way.

We have some great lists.

Christmas Trees being one of them.

Chemical Free please; do not throw you tree in the pen, allow them to eat from the branches, the remaining tree may be left here.

Goat Force 'Newbury 4' goats were originally acquired for, amount other reasons such as milk, some publicity in London.

COID19 has meant that the Goats cannot go to London.

COVIE19, however, seems to have bought London to the Goats.

They were to have Goat coats with promotional and educational banners and logos,

If you are interested, have ideas, or supplies or a great imagination, please do get in contact with us.
